자동차의 차체 비틀림 강성(Torsional Rigidity) 수치

자동차 전체로서 주로 굽힘 강성(剛性)과 비틀림 강성이 차의 성능에 영향을 준다. 실험적으로 이를 계산하는 데 있어서 굽힘 강성에서는 차를 전후 차축(車軸)으로 받쳐 적당한 중량을 가한 다음 휨을 측정하여 평균 굽힘 강성을 산출하는데 비틀림은 자동차의 한쪽을 들어올리거나 내려서 각 바퀴의 반력(反力)의 차이에서 굽힘 모먼트 T를 구하고, 전후 차축의 비틀림각 0, 차축 거리 S로부터 Gj=T∙S/0로 구한다(G는 강성률, J는 단면 극2차 모먼트) 


일반적으로 물체를 한 점의 주위로 회전시키는 짝힘의 양을 말한다. 단위는 kgf·m 또는 N·m(뉴턴미터:1kgf·m = 9.80665N·m)로 나타낸다. 하나의 축에 1m 길이의 막대를 직각으로 달고 그 끝에 1kg짜리 추를 달았을 때 축에 전달되는 회전력이 1kgf·m이다. 비틀림 강성은 차체를 1도 비트는데 얼마의 토크(Nm)가 필요한지 나타내는 수치다.
